Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation 2025
Themes of Prayer and Hope
Confirmation 2025
Best wishes and blessings to you and all the many girls and boys of the dioceses of Kilalloe preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation this year. It really is something to look forward to, receiving the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit.
2025 is a Jubilee Year, a Holy Year. A jubilee is a special celebration and in the Church every 25 years we mark the great event of the birth of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour. The theme for this special Holy Year is ‘Pilgrims of Hope’. For the past year we have had a year of prayer, joyfully looking forward to this great Jubilee. The theme therefore for Confirmation is the very rich twin themes of Prayer and Hope!
As I do every year, to engage with you personally – I warmly invite all the students for the Sacrament to write a letter to me.
In that letter I invite you to reflect on two things. Firstly why you would like to be Confirmed, to receive the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit and secondly what ways prayer and hope can be helpful in your life ahead. Please don’t rush your letter. Think about it deeply and let your letter be the fruits of your thought and ongoing reflection over the coming months as you prepare diligently.
The work you have done in the Grow in Love Programme on prayer will be a great help to you as you reflect on this.
You might also like to share with me what your favourite prayer is and why as a help to understand why prayer is important?
Huge thanks to your teachers and family who are helping you prepare for this special faith time.
Prayerful good wishes and blessings to you as you do this and I very much look forward to meeting you for the great day in the Jubilee and Holy year of Hope that is 2025!
